New Article: Legal Parenthood

October 2026: Our latest article is now available, open access, in Sociology of Health and Illness. It it titled, ‘The Politics of Reproductive Signification: Navigating Legal Definitions of Parenthood in the Context of UK Informal Donor Conception‘. In it, we explore how donors and (intended) parents who use IDC navigate legal definitions of parenthood which do not always match their intended meanings or lived experiences of reproduction and family. We examine how inequalities related to income, class, racialisation, gender and sexuality shape possibilites to work with or resist legal definitions of relationships.
